Poor Unfortunate Joe

Poor Joe has been sick off and on for a few weeks. He would get better and then all of the sudden he would get sick again. Last week he called me from school and just had to go home.... again. I as a concerned parent, wanted to know what classes he would miss and if he could take his missed assignments home with him.

Of course he felt well enough the next day to go to school. Friday he felt great until about 10:00pm. He came home early from hanging out with his friends. He was burning up with a fever, shivering, and as white as a ghost.

As we sat in the doctor's office Saturday morning Joe asked me if I was mad at him. I am sure that he thought I was mad when I kept telling him to stop mumbling and to just speak up. I might have even said, "just forget about helping me cleaning the house, I will just do it myself." To tell you the truth, I was getting pretty sick of him always complaining about how bad he felt. I sometimes have a hard time showing sympathy. This is something I probably need to work harder on.

After a chest X-Ray, we found out that Joe has pneumonia. He got a shot and a ton of medicine.

I of course got the worst mother of the year award.

Deanna, Why don't you listen to your kids more, like me? Actually this is funny, in that I am not going through it myself sort of way. I am sure Joe will start feeling better soon. I think it is amazing how having pneumonia can really tire you out and just how careful Joe is going to have to be to not get a relapse. Good thing Sarah is there to help with all of the extra chores and the nursing responsibilities.

Chris' brother, Cameron, kept complaining about his shoulder for months. Of course, his mom ignored him because he was always diagnosing himself with a new ailment. He ended up having to get surgery because he waited too long for treatment.
I know my mom is the same way with John.
