FLDS Cookies

This is one last picture from the Grand Canyon. We had a great time there even though it was sometimes cold and windy.

We left Kanab this morning and took the wrong road. I had planned on going north, but could not find the right road. Getting lost in Kanab says something about my sense of direction. We ended up back in Arizona. I passed a sign that said Colorado City--Hurricane. I asked Sarah D. if she wanted to turn back and go the northern route or if she wanted to go the southern route through Colorado City. She voted going to Colorado City to see the interesting sites.

Right before getting into to town we pulled off of the road to take a photo of some mailboxes. Take a look at the mailboxes, they have interesting names on them.

We got into Colorado City. I can't say that we felt very welcome there. We did find a small grocery store and decided to go shopping for snacks for the rest of our trip. Joe stayed in the car while Sarah D and I walked through the store. Joe was not really supportive in our shopping adventures. Sarah D. and I thought that it was an unique store with unique people. We bought some cookies for Joe and left for the gas station. This was a town filled mostly with women and children. We saw very few men. I found this an interesting stop because I have recently finished the book Escape. I was able to see where the events in the book took, and are still taking place.

This must have been a sweet pet that was buried here. This was right across the road from the mailboxes. I was tempted to go up the road and see the homes that these mailboxes belonged to, but a van coming down the dirt road helped change my mind.

After we left Colorado City we headed for Zion National Park. It was beautiful!

We rode the park's shuttle throughout the park. We walked along several trails and had a picnic lunch. After a 2 mile walk, we went back to our car and drove home. We had a fun spring break. We did so many things and saw some great sites. We made it home by 8:00 Friday night so that we could still have the weekend to rest up for the rest of the school year.

I think I went on that same hike at Zions. What ingredeients were in your FLDS cookies? I really doubt they had any red M&Ms. Or were they just mixed by lots of women? If you went up to the Jessop's house you could just say that you found this kid (Joe) at the side of the road and that you suspected he was a lost boy and you were wondering if he belonged to them. When they denied him Joe could say something like, "Mom, please, just tell them the truth!"

So why didn't you take any pictures while at the grocery store with Sarah? If would have been funny if Joe had come inside with you. You could have gotten a picture of him with all the ladies of Colorado City. That would have been a classic picture. Something tells me that he was not really into this tourist stop.
