After weeding the garden I put my energy into organizing the house. I started with the medicine cabinet and worked my way to my bedroom closet. As soon as one drawer or closet was mucked out I started noticing a snowball effect. One drawer lead to another and one closet lead to two or three more. My goal is to have all of the closets, drawers and the shed clean by the 4th of July.
I have enlisted the help of Joe once again. I think that he enjoyed organizing the food storage room a whole lot more than his experience Tuesday pulling weeds. Joe keeps telling me that I should do all of this cleaning in the spring like most moms. All I can say to that is that most moms didn't teach 700 students a bunch of dances for a dance festival. Besides, Joe was in school in the spring and who would have helped me?
In all of my cleaning I have discovered that I have a bunch of jackets, sweaters and an absurd amount of tee shirts. Collecting a tee shirt from each state has been great, but they were taking up way too much room in my closet. They are now neatly folded. I took a picture of them, it shows about a forth of them.
The freezer, room which has been a family embarrassment, is now clean and organized. All it really took was getting my sweaters out of there and storing them in the spare bedroom. I also purchased two large shelves from Wal-Mart. I have craft supplies, appliances that I don't use very often, and paper products on them. I have a picture of one of the shelves below. In order to really appreciate how much better it looks now, just think of everything you see on the shelves plus a car load of other things all over the floor in semi-organized piles
So far I have taken two huge carloads of stuff that I am not using anymore to DI. I am sure someone else will be able to use all of shoes, clothes, ice cream freezers, and all of the other things that I haven't used for a few years. When I get to the shed next week I think I will need Marty's truck.
