No More Teacher's Dirty Looks

This isn't me-- but sometimes I feel like I make this exact face.

Why do students get hyper the last month of school? Why do they think that school rules do not apply the last week of school? Why do teachers get a little grumpy the last few days of school?

The last day of school is tomorrow. We only go for about an hour and forty five minutes. This school year really has gone by quickly. The year started out a bit rough.... 38 students crammed into one classroom--sharing 28 computers (when they all worked).... but as I made up a system, and lowered my expectations, I really started to enjoy the students, the school and the computer lab.

It is kind of strange how my classroom always seems like home to me after a while. (I actually enjoy being in here). Maybe it is the refrigerator and the cupboard full of food that help.

Next year, I will be working with the students, the computers, and the teachers. I will be in the other lab. I will have one computer per student and I will be proctoring tests. I will also have a teacher in the lab to help me get the students logged in. I am sure that once I get used to the routine, I will enjoy it.

Yesterday was field day and the day before that was the dance festival. Both days were very enjoyable because I wasn't in charge of either one. I did help at both of the events, but I wasn't the one who had to worry if things went wrong. Everything went great and, both days were wonderful.

Today I have said goodbye to most of the students. They were allowed to play any of games that I had saved. Throughout the school year, I made a "portaportal" web site that saved me from a daily headache. This site became a favorite place for about 800 students and myself!


Now, all of the chairs are stacked, the computers are shut off. Both the classroom and the teacher are ready for summer vacation.
