We loved the city of Assisi!
After our 6 hour drive from Bari, we stopped in Assisi. This was a very quiet town, especially after Rome, Naples, and Bari.
Assisi is a medieval city. Instead of being in ruins it is being lived in.
This city was built on a hill and the roads here are super narrow. This is about the size of a car that can fit on the roads.
Our hotel... Albergo Viaggiatore, was built in about 1200 AD. This was such a cute hotel both on the outside and on the inside.
St. Francis made this city well known in the 1100's. He was a wealthy man and decided to sell what he had and become a friar. He lived off of the land and the legend says he was feed by birds. The person in the picture below must not be getting as much food from the birds as St. Francis did.
The shops and sights were beautiful.
One funny story about Sarah--as we were walking around the city, a nun looked Sarah up and down, bowed her head and crossed herself. I told Sarah it was probably because she is so pretty that it made the nun jealous.
When I come back to Italy, I will spend more time here!

Lovely and peacful. Oh my, Sarah sure caused a stir in Italy. She caused boys to over sing in church and a nun to cross herself. I can't wait to hear how Sarah stirred it up in the next city.
I'm going with you.
I love the story about Sarah. I am not sure why she got that look from the nun. At least she was not wearing bright red pants.
You look so skinny!
Wow, absolutely beautiful!
