Pisa and Cinque Terre

It was at Pisa that Marty discovered my problem.... I like purses. He asked me to find out where to catch the bus to the Leaning Tower of Pisa while he went to the bathroom with Joe and Sarah. When they got out of the bathroom, I didn't have the directions to the bus stop, but I did have a really cute purse. When Sarah saw how cute it was, she had to buy one too! (We ended up getting quite a few)

After buying about 5 purses we caught the bus and went to the tower!

It really does lean--- the poor soil is the main contributing factor.

I tried to fix it--

Marty tried to fix it---

After Joe and Sarah tired, (pictures will have to be posted later) we decided to climb up to the top.

This is the spiral staircase. The steps are worn from years of use. The tower has 296 steps and was built in 1173.

After Pisa, we drove to La Spezia, checked into our hotel, and caught a train to Cinque Terre. Marty and I enjoyed the "Love Walk" at dusk, while Joe and Sarah walked in front of us and sang sad loves songs like.... "lonely, I'm so lonely."

Cinque Terre means five lands. There are five cities that are built along the cliffs. There is a trail that connects them all. We walked to two of them. The first one was Manarola, the next one was Cornigila.

The next day we went back and swam in the Sea. It was really rough and instead of nice soft sand it was granite gravel. Joe and I got carried out too far and Marty got caught in an under current when he swam out to tell us to come back in. Sarah was caught in the same under current, so we decided we had enough swimming...We took a boat back and here are the pictures of the rest of Cinque Terre.

You can get directions any time, but you could only get those purses in Italy. I think that it was a good strategy to get your first one when Uncle Marty was in the bathroom.

That was definitly a cute purse. Who needs directions when you are looking so stylish?
