Roma!

We are back from our wonderful 16 day vacation. Each day was an adventure. Each day we saw as many things as we could, and each night we would be so exhausted that we would hardly notice the rock-hard beds in each of the hotels.
I took over 1200 pictures, ate pizza and pasta, and consumed gelato every night. I shopped whenever and where ever I could. I am hoping to share the best of the best in the next few blog posts.

We left Salt Lake City on Tuesday, June 1st. We stopped in Chicago and in Brussels before we headed for Rome. We had a 5 hour layover in Brussels, so we headed out to see the sights.

In Brussels, people speak either French of Dutch. There were enough people who spoke some English so we were able to get around fairly well.

We took a cab to "The Grand Place."

We ate Belgium waffles...

saw the famous statue- Manneken Piss...

and bought really good chocolate and bought handmade lace.

When our time was up in Brussels we took a train back to the airport and headed for Rome. We landed in Rome in the afternoon, checked into our hotel and found a place to eat dinner. I had a wonderful cream pasta, Marty had spaghetti, Sarah had pizza, and Joe had chicken. My pasta and Sarah's pizza were the highlights of the meal.

After dinner we took a walk around Rome. (We were actually lost for about an hour as we tried to remember our way back to the hotel).

The next morning we slept in until 9:00. The 8 hour time difference is hard to get used to.

Egg, ham, artichoke pizza-never see that on the menu at Pizza Hut.
