Way back in January I decided that I should learn Italian. I got through level 3 on Rosetta Stone. I was pretty sure that I would be the one that would get my money back after 6 months because I wouldn't be satisfied. Instead of getting my money back, I have decided to keep the program and continue with levels 4 and 5. I tried to encourage Joe and Sarah to do the lessons with me, but they were not very interested.
They did learn a few words while we were in Italy. While visiting the Vatican, and the Sistine Chapel, they learned the word, "Silencio!" Followed by a loud shhhhh! After trying to take a few pictures of the ceiling we learned the words..."No foto!" Some people just have to learn the hard way.
After the Sistine Chapel, we visited St. Peter's Basilica.
Vatican City is a separate country from Italy. This fact made Joe pretty happy.
This is Michelangelo's Pieta.
After the Vatican, we headed for Naples. We had all of our luggage with us as we boarded a train. It is hard to not look like a tourist with suitcases, a carry on, and a camera attached to your belt loop.
We stored our luggage at the train station and headed out for a pizza.
Naples is crazy! Cars and scooters going in every direction. It was fun trying to find one of the oldest pizzerias in the city.
After we sat down and ordered our pizzas, a man walked in and sat down. He seemed to frighten all of the workers there and had Marty not said..."No foto" I would have had a pretty cool picture of what we thought was a guy from the Mafia. A few clues that made us think that way was how the whole restaurant acted like some one said "silencio!" Also instead of paying for his pizza, the workers opened the cash register and he took out money. He was dressed fairly well, and carried himself in such a way that, well lets just say, I didn't take a photo.
While walking on the Spanish Steps, I happened to find someone selling purses!

Today is Father's Day... good thing we got this for Marty while we were in Italy!

I love your pictures, but it is too bad that we did not get to see the picture of the man in the mafia. That is probably a good thing though.
I recognize some of those pictures from my art history classes!! I would have done the Rosetta Stone with you!
Very cute purse! Good thing Marty was there to keep you safe from the Mafia. I bet he loved his Father's Day gift.
