Joseph and The Grapes

This is an adaptation of Aesop's Fable, The Fox and The Grapes

Joseph and The Grapes

One cool, fall day Joseph came home from school and was asked to pick some grapes. He strolled through the backyard 'till he came to a bunch of grapes just ripening on a vine which had been trained over the top of the trellis wall. "Just the thing to quench my mother's thirst," quoth he. Drawing back a few paces, he took a run and a jump, and just missed the bunch. Turning round again with a One, Two, Three, he jumped up, but with no greater success. He pulled a chair up to the edge and stretched up to reach them. Again and again (least once) he tried after the tempting morsel, but at last had to give it up, and walked back into the house with only a small bucket of grapes and his nose in the air, saying: "I am sure the rest are sour(rotten)."

The next day along came the mother of the lad with an empty bucket and a lot determination. She moved the chair around and around and reached the highest vines until she got all of the grapes before the winter storm.

Below are the grapes Joe couldn't reach.

The moral of the story....

Girls are better than boys!
