My New Library Card

Today we spent the day at the National Mall. We thought we would get an early start so that we could see more, but as it turns out the museums don't open until 10:00am. We looked into the Smithsonian castle and then headed to the Navy Memorial. We made it to the National Archives right when they opened. It was neat to see the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. I was surprised that they were written on poster size paper.
Shortly after 11:00 we went to the Library of Congress. We accidentally went into the one with all of the books where people come to do research, after going through security I figured why not just browse around. Well, you can't just browse around without a Library of Congress library card. I decided that I could spend the five minutes it takes to get a card. Good thing Marty had to visit the restroom, or this would have never worked. After a few minutes, I noticed a sign that said these cards were not for souvenirs, but I was already committed to the task so I couldn't really stop. Who knows, I may need to research some children's literature or music sometime! Just as I was getting my official Library of Congress library card, Marty came out of the restroom shaking his head, he must have wanted one too. We did get to see the other Library of Congress as well and we loved the walls, ceilings, and displays, however they didn't offer cards there.
Senate bean soup made a great lunch and it is served in the House of Representatives cafeteria. This was actually very good and not expensive. We spent the rest of the day visiting the Native American Museum and the Air and Space Museum. Walking slowly and standing seem to really make our feet ache. We spent about 6 hours doing this. I thought of a solution though, I think I even saw it on the Disney movie Wall-E. We all sit in movable chairs that move us around the museum, up and down the stairs, and around the National Mall. They could even give us slurpees.
Each night we come back to the hotel our feet hurt more than they did the night before. We have one day left, I hope our feet will magically heal through the night.

Now I know who to go to in case I need research done. You are credentialed! And eating the real soup. You will have to let me know how our recipe stacks up to the official version.
