The Bomb That Went Off In My Kitchen

Mondays are my favorite day of the week. Most people dread Mondays, I on the other hand enjoy them. It is my day off from school. I have most of the day to myself. I like to shop, clean, do laundry, and other errands.

Yesterday I did my usual shopping, cleaning, and laundry. I also picked peaches, made three batches of peach jam, and peach fruit leather. The kitchen was looking pretty bad in the middle of all of this canning, when I decided to start making popcorn balls so that Sarah D. could sell them. (Sarah D. is trying to earn money to go on the school choir tour) At about 6:30 as Marty came home it looked as if a bomb had gone off in my kitchen! There were buckets on the floor, every inch of the counter was filled with pots and pans, the table had popcorn and popcorn balls all over it, and both sides of the sink were filled to the top with peaches that still needed to be done.

Marty always comes home from work starving to death. The aroma of peaches and popcorn that met him at the door let him know dinner was probably not going to be all that he was hoping for. He became even more concerned when he made it to the stove and didn't see a meal being cooked. He wasn't thrilled when I told him that dinner was indeed ready, it was just in the microwave being reheated.

After a wonderful dinner of leftover pasta I went back to the"bomb site". I finished up all of my projects and started cleaning the kitchen. It took about an hour to finally get the kitchen back to normal. Even though it looked like a bomb went off in my kitchen, I was able to get the peaches done and Sarah D. made $20.00 on two batches of popcorn balls!

I anticipate another "bomb" today when we make more popcorn ball and start on the tomatoes!

I am calling Homeland Security! Too many explosions at the Caringella house. Goodluck to Sarah D in her popcorn ball money making venture. That was a good idea.
