My Sweet Dance Moves

While showing off some of my "sweet" dance moves today I may have I broken my foot. I was demonstrating the Tinikling dance steps to a sixth grade class. I asked the girls who were keeping the rhythm on the poles to just keep them on the ground so that I wouldn't have to worry about tripping on them. I guess one girl got excited about halfway through the demonstration and decided to move the poles for me. I ended up jumping down on top of one of the poles. I knew right then that my demonstration was over and that I needed to sit down. I iced my foot for the next hour and kept thinking that it would feel better. The trouble was, it got worse as the day progressed. As it began to swell, I could hardly walk on it.

The sixth graders had a great time learning how to do the Tinikling dance.
The loved working in groups and coming up with their own routines. They all thought it was so cool to dance to 'We Will Rock You' by Queen.

It's too bad that I am not as graceful as the Philippine Tinkling bird that the dance is patterned after.

My foot doesn't really look bad, and if I completely stay off of my foot it doesn't hurt at all. I am hoping that I just bruised something and that it will feel better in the morning.

It just occurred to me that this is a workers comp thing. Report the accident to your principle tomorrow morning. You can tell him you did not realize it was broken until after you got home. You elementary music teachers lead dangerous lives.
