Been There, Done That, Got The Tee Shirt

For the last ten or so years I have tried to collect a tee shirt from each state. As soon as I get a tee shirt from every state, I plan on making a huge quilt out of them. I have been to a lot of states and only have a few left to go. I am not sure when I will make it to Alaska, the Dakotas, and the Carolinas, but I am determined.

Yesterday Sarah and I left New York on a train and headed to Connecticut. We rented a car, and drove into Rhode Island. The sights were beautiful. The New England states could use wider roads and more signs, but theses states are pretty small and maybe they think that having narrow roads and having no road signs make them appear larger.

Today we continued our New England road trip and my tee shirt quest. We drove from Rhode Island into Boston, Massachusetts. I had a hard time finding my way around, but eventually I made it into a parking garage so that we could walk the Freedom Trail. This was a great way to see some wonderful historic sites and buildings.

The traffic in and out of Boston made me want to scratch my eyes out! It was difficult to find my way both in and out of this city. I have some how developed poor eye sight and can't read a map without putting on reading glasses. Looking at the road signs, fighting traffic, and putting my glasses on and off got pretty old pretty fast!

As we headed to Salem Massachusetts, I decided that Sarah would have to help. After a few map skill lessons, she did pretty well. We drove from Salem to Sanford, Maine. We didn't see very many buildings, but we saw lots of trees. After Maine, we drove to Concord, New Hampshire where we are spending the night. I have included a lot of photos of the fun places we have seen so far.

Finding a bathroom in New York is impossible. This sign is bolted to the wall. The business owners want you to be a paying customer in order to use their restroom. The unfortunate thing is I always ordered a drink and would need another restroom in a matter of minutes.

"tea party" here. We ordered some sandwiches and ginger ale and looked out at the boats in the harbor.

Nothing says permanent like a sign bolted to the wall. Good luck on your remaining teeshirt quest!
