In my mind I'm goin' to Carolina
Can't you see the sunshine.
Can't you just feel the moonshine
Ain't it just like a friend of mine
It hit me from behind
Yes I'm gone to Carolina in my mind
On our first day in North Carolina
The stocks that Marty is in were used to put the run away slaves that were brought back to the plantation
Here are Rachael and Joe... disturbing the geese... at Kill Devil Hill near Kitty Hawk. This is on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It is beautiful out there.
We went to the First In Flight Museum and saw where some of my relatives successfully flew an airplane for the first time. I still haven't been able to prove any relationship to the Wright Brothers, but I am sure I will eventually.
There are three markers that mark their three successful flights. They got further each time. It is incredible to think how far we go now-- thanks to their invention.
Our next stop was Roanoke Island.
We got there just as it was turning dark, but we were able to see the 1587 "Lost Colony" site. The last place we went to was the Piggly Wiggly. I had lots of fun. Rachael did a great job planning this day for us. I will try to get a blog post written for each day we were out there. We put about 1200 miles on our rental car during our 3 1/2 day visit. We had an incredible time. We saw lots of things and best of all, I got to spend time with Rachael.
"Dark and silent late last night
I think I might have heard the highway calling
Geese in flight and dogs that bite
Signs that might be omens say I going, going
I'm gone to Carolina in my mind"

Wow, we put a lot of miles on that car... And you aren't supposed to say it's not proven... we are related. Just cause. I'm sure the Wright Brother's wouldn't mind. I'm so glad you came... except now I miss you!
I am so glad you guys got to go on a fun trip. You do try to pack seven pounds of sand into a five pound sack on your trips. But you get to do so much!
