Good News and Bad News

Spring Break is over, time to go back to school. I came in to school today and did my usual thing. After taking the kindergarten students back to class, I stopped by the mailboxes to pick up the mail I had missed over the last week. That was when I was informed that the computer lab would be used next week for the end of the year testing.

I was expecting this, a few weeks ago a few 6th grade students asked if I would be teaching PE because the computer lab would be used for testing. Sometimes I don't get information in the best way, but it really is okay.

The bad news is that the computer lab will be used for testing for an entire month! There goes all of those power points we were going to do. Over spring break I was feeling guilty for not spending any time preparing for the computer lab. Now, I am thankful that did not make any plans.

The good news is, that I love PE. I will get a nice start on my tan. I can wear jogging clothes to school. I don't have to teach 7 different dances to 700 students. I can get my exercise done at school...I have a week to plan PE activities for a month for grades 1-6. I know that everyone wants to play kickball, but I also know that we will get bored of it really quick.

I am looking for PE ideas, so if anyone has a wonderful game, please feel free to share!

Isn't it funny how information is received in the weirdest ways? That happens to me at work all the time. I think you should teach your PE classes how to hunt for squirrels. :)

Can you somehow work your karaoke machine into PE? That was a hit at your last school.

You will have so much fun! I think you should make the kids work out by doing calesthenics and then jogging. If you do that 6 times a day for a month before summer you will be in great shape. And after all, it is all about you.
