Feed Me, If You Dare!

Could this be spring at last?
For the last several years we have had the same birds nest in our attic. I can never bring myself to exterminate baby birds so I seem to have the same problem every spring. During the fall I decided to seal up the place they were getting into with a caulking gun.

When I started seeing the same pair of birds swooping in and out of our carport I thought that I just didn't do a good enough caulking job.

I started hearing the cute little sounds of newly hatched birds and even found half of a blue egg shell. I could not see where these birds could possibly get in, so I decided to investigate.

I followed the sounds to about the same place where they went in every spring. Right under our carport and by the back door. Here we have a woodpile an somehow our welcome mat ended up on top of the wood. I lifted up the welcome mat and saw 4 cute little baby birds crying "feed me." They must have just hatched, their eyes are not yet open and they are pretty scrawny looking. Their bright yellow beaks are really the only recognizable thing in the nest.

I hope that the mommy and daddy birds won't mind me taking pictures of their babies. It would be pretty fun to watch them grow up.
