Stuck In A Closet

Well it has finally happened. I am now sitting in a closet at school. At least I have it to myself. About 2 weeks ago I was booted out of my classroom so that the entire school can take their end of the year test. I have been teaching PE. This would work well if I had a place to do it.

The gym is great when it isn't being used for the lunchroom, assemblies, classroom PE times, dance rehearsals, or other special programs. The playground is great when it isn't snowing, blowing or way too cold. (Today's temp. was 37 on the way to school). It also gets used for recess, softball tournaments, and classroom PE times.

I have resorted to holding PE on the stage. That works.... not great though.. until someone decides to do a play. (That has happened 3 time so far).

During my 50 minute prep time I like to get things ready for the day and then study Italian. I was going in the faculty room until it was taken over by DRA testing. DRA testing is where a teacher listens to a student read while marking errors and asking comprehension questions. My trying to say things in Italian into my computer might be a distraction.

So, here I sit, in the PE closet. It would be a perfect place to study my Italian lessons, but the class that just came on the stage might discover I am in here or think I am even crazier if they hear me talking to myself.

I only have 5 more days until I have my own classroom back. Each day feels like 20 so I don't see the light at the end of the tunnel yet.

Oh my goodness. That is ridiculous! I would call in sick for five days.

I have a great PE idea. For the next five days you could march your classesaround the halls of the school. You could chant cadence as you are marching. I will ask John for some really good ones with unique vocab words. The students will love it.
