Mr. Caringella goes to Washington/ 2 national problems solved

Our aching backs, legs, and feet remind us of the day we spent in Washington DC today. We started out our day racing to the Washington Monument. We were kind of slow in getting up today and had to run to the monument as soon as we got off the metro. We made it just in time. I ordered tickets to go to the observation deck a few weeks ago. This was a lot of fun and we had a great view of DC. We spent the rest of the morning in the Museum of Natural History. I have decided that Marty needs to make me a few more pieces of jewelry. Maybe using some larger gem stones like the one we saw today. Marty loved the gem and mineral part of the museum, however he swears that everything was fake and the real stuff is in a vault somewhere. I say that he can still make me jewelry using any of the gem stones there.

We had congressional tickets this afternoon for the Capital Building. We chose to walk from the museum to the capital building. That was quite a walk! Our tour began at 2:30pm and was really interesting. While we were waiting we noticed that there was a debate going on across the hall from Senator Bennett's office. The debate was on childhood obesity.

Later, we got to see a Senate debate. The debate was on how the United States is going to solve the gas price issue. While waiting for the senators to get back from their recess, I solved two of the nation's problems. Fuel prices and childhood obesity. Here is the solution to both problems. A law should be passed that states that all children, elementary through high school, should walk to and from school. Just think how much gas parents will save if they do not drive their children to and from school. High school students wouldn't drive and that would save on gas as well. All of this walking would help the childhood obesity problem. Maybe kids who live across the street from school can be made to run around the playground before and after school so that they can feel apart of this nationwide program.

As we watched the debate, Senator Craig from Idaho (the guy who played footsie with a stranger in the bathroom at an airport) spoke. We also heard Senator Sanders from Vermont. It was interesting how their two opinions differed so much. Marty, as you know likes to talk back to the television (rather loudly), and started to disagree with the views of Senator Sanders. I had to remind him where he was and that he would most likely get kicked out if he said anything. We were able to leave before he caved in and said something. It was pretty funny how he sat there for about 5 minutes with his hand over his mouth and made quiet grumblings.

We headed back to our hotel early tonight and ate our cold pasta. With our feet up and our tummies full we look forward to tomorrow and our adventures at Monticello.

The gem stones are my favorite part of the Smithsonian museums. I just love to think of what I would wear with each of the beautiful pieces. That would be interesting if they were fake thought...
I like your solution to gas prices and obesity. I would have had to run around the playground before school though.

Two national problems solved with one solution! I think Mrs Caringella would do a great job in Washington. Think of how much fun you could have in congress. Good thing the teenagers can't vote because I doubt that you could even get one to support your platform. Lets ask your senior Sarah what she thinks about walking to school.
