On the last full day of our trip, the five of us packed into our small economy rental car and headed for South Carlina. We took the scenic route and drove by Myrtle Beach.

For some reason it was cold while we were there. Rachael and I found a fun hat and scarf set at the state fair the night before. We split it and called it our BBF hat and scarf set.

Rachael and Taylor at Myrtle Beach.

Joe was always asked to take pictures of Marty and Me or Rachael and Taylor. He was pretty sure that he didn't a picture taken with someone, but here we are!

After Myrtle Beach, we drove to Charleston. The picture above is the Charleston harbor.
I really wanted to see Fort Sumter. Even though we started out at 7 in the morning we barely made it on the last ferry ride to Fort Sumter. Along the way we saw a lot of dolphins!

We spent about an hour at Fort Sumter learning about its role in the Civil War. I really enjoyed the tour, but I'm not too sure how everyone else felt.

Once we were back in Charleston we walked to Market Street. It was too bad that the girls were out numbered. I wish that I would have been able to shop longer. We got there about an hour before the stores were closing and the boys were hungry. The picture above is a lady making a sweet grass basket. The tradition of making these baskets have been handed down from generation to generation. They say that it originated in Africa. I was smart and bought my basket on the Sweet grass Basket Highway. It was a lot cheaper there.

This is Church Street. Charleston reminded me of the movie Gone With the Wind. One of my favorite movies. I wish that I would have had more time to explore this city.

Being in the south, we all wanted some fried chicken. We happened to find the best fried chicken I think I have ever had. We went to a restaurant called Jestin's Place. It is a one of a kind restaurant, which is too bad. The hush puppies and the chicken were divine. Once everyone got their fill of corn bread, fried chicken, fries, hush puppies, coleslaw, and desserts we headed back to Raleigh. We stopped at another Piggly Wiggly to get a few supplies for our flight back home.
I loved every minute of my visit with Rachael and Taylor. I only wish that I would have been able to stay longer.
