Maybe I have just been blind, or too busy to notice, but it doesn't seem that Utah has had the horrible effects of the economy that some states have had.
I am grateful for my job. I have insurance, retirement, and teaching computers comes easier to me than music did. (I loved teaching music, but due to my lack of musical experience-I always felt a bit inadequate). My computer job seems to get better every day.
The jewelry business in Utah seems to be doing okay. I would think that the Jewelery business would be one of the hardest hit with this scary economy. Marty's work load has slowed down, but his income has been steady. I have been grateful for this as well as for the extra time that we have been able to spend together.
I do hope that the economy starts to pick up. In the meantime, here are a few things that I have heard about our present economy-some are kind of funny.
The economy is so bad that I got a pre-declined credit card in the mail.
The economy is so bad, I ordered a burger at McDonald's and the kid behind the counter asked, "Can you afford fries with that?"
The economy is so bad that CEO's are now playing miniature golf.
The economy is so bad if the bank returns your check marked "Insufficient Funds," you call them and ask if they meant you or them.
The economy is so bad Hot Wheels and Matchbox stocks are trading higher than GM.
The economy is so bad Obama met with three small businesses to discuss the Stimulus Package: GE, Pfizer, and Citigroup.
The economy is so bad a truckload of Americans was caught sneaking into Mexico.
The economy is so bad Dick Cheney took his stockbroker hunting.
The economy is so bad people in Africa are donating money to Americans.
The economy is so bad Motel Six won't leave the light on anymore.
The economy is so bad the Mafia is laying off judges.
The economy is so bad Exxon-Mobil laid off 25 Congressmen.

scary... Talor's job has slowed down a lot. I hope the economy gets well soon cause I would really like to have a job by now. I have tried to get a job out here since September!
I hadn't noticed the bad economy either. So glad Texas hasn't tanked like most of the rest of the country.
