Proud To Be An American

We honored Veterans this week at school. I loved how they decorated the hall! I think it is important to teach patriotism to our children. On Wednesday we had an assemble where each branch of the military was honored. As I looked around the crowd I could see that I was not the only one who had to wipe a few tears from my eyes.

The Veterans were dressed in their uniforms. As each of the branches were honored, their anthems were played and their flags were displayed. They told us the history of the 21 gun salute and the reason why the flag is folded in a particular way. I am glad that I got a copy of all of the information, I will be prepared for flag ceremonies at girls' camp this summer.

I have included a link to a website that gives the information about the flag. This is basically so I won't loose it.
