As I stood in line to pie my pumpkin pie from Costco today, I noticed how many other people had the same idea. The cashier told me that they were expecting to sell 10,000 pies today. I find that really hard to believe- ten thousand pumpkin pies?
It seems my preparations for Thanksgiving has gotten easier as the years go by. I have learned to buy a fresh turkey (thanks Bonnie). I buy a dozen Lion House Rolls, I do some of my cooking the day before. I did make an apple pie but I bought a pre-made crust.
I also put family members in charge of things. This year, Sarah will be doing the mashed potatoes and relish tray, Joe will be making the dressing and Marty will make the fruit salad. I, of course have to be there to find everything in the kitchen that doesn't fall directly into their hands as they open the cupboards. I also have to supervise the clean up, but it is better than doing it myself.
I think the real reason that I have lessened the work load on Thanksgiving day is to be able to study the Black Friday ads and plan my attack. I am always thrilled to hear people say that they do not participate in this outrageous event. It just means less competition for me!

I cannot wait to get my hands on the newspaper tomorrow morning. It is so much better than looking at the black Friday websites. Good luck with your battle plan!
We decided not to do our green bean casserole. :( The Onions topping was so expensive, then Taylor said he didn't even like the onion stuff, so I decided we could do that another year. Oh well.
I saw a little blurb on TV tonight where a lady was making everyone's Thanksgiving favorites. She was making Stove Top stuffing, Instant mashed potoatoes, and a frozen pie. At least your cheats are worthy of putting on the table.
Of course, I made homemade bread and corn bread a few days ago so that I could make my own bread crumbs for stuffing. Just call me Martha.
