She starts out all smiles....
For some reason two of my daughters have developed bone spurs on their heels. This has happened to both Rachael and Sarah. Today, Sarah had the bone spur on her right foot shaved off. The surgery took 2 hours instead of the 45 minutes that they were predicting.
Needles have never been a favorite thing for Sarah. I remember when she was getting a booster shot when she was a little girl. She twisted, turned, and screamed so much that the nurse broke the needle, and had to start all over. Today she was still and quiet but the nurse still missed the vein and had to try again on her other arm.
She did really well through the surgery and now seems to be on the road to recovery. Maybe she will do better than I always do. I seem to feel pretty good for the first two days, and then by the 3rd day, I feel like I have been hit by a truck. I hope Sarah has a different experience.
The doctor prescribed percocet for pain. I read through all of the side effects but I think they forgot to mention several things.
1. It can make one hyper.
2. It can have an "Austin Powers" effect. By this I mean that one's inner monologue is spoken out loud.
3. Controlling the volume of one's voice can be hard to manage... another "Austin Powers" effect.
It is quite interesting and surprising to hear all of the things that are going through Sarah's head. All of these thoughts seems have been turned up a notch or two. Tonight, instead of sleeping after her first dose of pain medicine she watched two Disney movies.
In about a year, Sarah will need to get the bone spur off of her left heel. Good luck sweet Sarah!

That sounds like the name of a band, Breaking Needles.
When I was younger, I used to get a kick out of having conversations with doped up people. Sorry Mike. Okay. Maybe I still think it is fun. I may call Sarah today.
