I have heard of a lot of people who hit a deer as they are driving. Yesterday, I didn't hit a deer, a deer hit me! After my experience yesterday, I have decided that deer are not the brightest animals out there.
I was on my way home from school, just minding my own business, sitting at a stop sign, waiting for my turn, when out of the corner of my eye, I saw a deer jump over the school yard fence and start running across the road.
As I watched the deer come closer and closer to me, I thought that surely she would see me sitting there and change directions. That did not happen. She just ran straight toward me, hitting the car on the driver's side. I got to see her wild eyes and flaring nostrils up close through my window right before she slammed into the car.
She hit my car so hard that it knocked her out for about 30 seconds. During that time, I sat there trying to take in the fact that I had just been hit by a deer. The other cars in the intersection pulled over when they saw the deer fly over the fence. To everyone's surprise the deer jumped up and started running down the street toward a field. I received lots of smiles, waves, and strange expressions as I finally made my way across the street.
Once I got home, I was happy to find that no damage had been done to my car.
