I have decided to do a blog post of each of my children. Since Sarah's birthday is coming up soon, I will start with her.
Her cute little nicknames are:
Sweet Sarah
Tri-Sarah-Tops
Sar-n-dippity
Sarah-rella
Sarah was born on my grandmother's birthday. I remember calling my grandmother after Sarah was born and telling her that I had a wonderful birthday surprise for her.
She was thrilled to have a great grandchild for a birthday present. Sarah's first 4 birthdays were spent at my grandmother's house. We always had for a birthday party for them.
You have heard of the "terrible twos." Sarah not only went through the terrible twos, but threes, fours and fives. I remember saying to her, "Sarah, you are not 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 anymore, you are not allowed to throw temper tantrums." She finally stopped sometime in kindergarten.
Like Sarah's temper, Sarah's hair was always hard for me to control. Sarah's hair always grew straight forward. I would braid it, pull it back in a pony tail, or put barrettes in it, but she would always undo what I had done and go "au naturale."
While Sarah was young, I developed the "water therapy" so that I would not feel so guilty spanking such a sweet child. I wouldn't make her drink water, I would just splash her with it. When I discovered how well this worked, it was turning point in her life. She would be in "mid-fit" and I would spray her with water. She would run to bed, screaming all the way. While yelling she would slam doors all along the way. She would eventually fall asleep and wake up a different child.
When Sarah was in school, she won awards like, "Homework Star" and "Most Improved."
I remember making her read out loud to me every day. When the fight got too hard for me to win, I would give her questions that she had to answer so that I could tell if she read the book. I am sure she was grateful I was a teacher!
Sarah was a collector of "little things." If it was little and cute, she had to have it. It was fun to get her little things and add to her collection.
Sarah grew up to be a very pretty girl, and then a beautiful young woman. Sarah made many friends throughout her childhood, but really made some lasting friendships while she was in junior high and high school.
Sarah is beautiful! She has always been beautiful. While growing up, she would only want to wear really cute things. She still loves clothes and especially shoes!
She turns heads where ever she goes. She has high moral standards and always tries to do the right thing. She is not afraid to get out of a bad situation. Sarah is brave. Sarah is strong. Sarah is funny. Sarah is adorable.
Sarah will make some young man very happy!
Happy Birthday Sweet Sarah!
