Even walking in London is hard because the cars are coming from the opposite direction from what we are used to.
We decided to take a double-decker bus and see all of the sights that way. It was a good decision, because I don't think we would have ever made it to everything if we walked or even took the subway.
Here are a few things that we saw:
Cool buildings
A huge ferris wheel that you can see all of London from.
Picadilly Circus
Phone Booths and cars on the wrong side of the road.
A huge park kind of like Central Park.
Big Ben
We went to the Tower of London to see the crown jewels. Marty could have stayed there for a few more hours. Joe and Sarah were tired of museums, so we only stayed about 3 hours.
We also took at river cruise on the Thames. That was a lot of fun. Our tour guide was hilarious!
We hopped back on the bus and somehow ended up in the best shopping district of London. (someone was paying attention to the audio guide) Marty was really tired of shopping, so we only stayed here about an hour.
We went to one store called Atmosphere, that had great clothes at super low prices. It had a "black Friday" feel to it.
Marty was hungry and not in the mood to shop, he even sent Joe into the store to tell us it was time to go. Joe saw some pretty amazing shoes and a few tee shirts and was hooked. Poor Marty!
Buckingham Palace was closed because the queen was in town...(how did they know I was coming) and my battery ran out of power to get many pictures.
We ended our layover in London by getting lost on the way to our hotel. We took the right train and the right bus. We just forgot the address to the hotel. No one on the bus had heard of our hotel (we did draw quite a bit of attention to ourselves) We had a lot of well meaning people remind us how important it is to take the hotel address with us when we go sight seeing. We eventually got off of the bus, (they probably all cheered when the door closed) we were just about to call a taxi to take us to our hotel when we found it.
What a great way to end a great trip!
