We arrived in Milan on Monday around noon. Normally that would be plenty of time to shop, but we got there as soon as the Sieta time started. We did get to shop at several stores. Sarah D mentioned Promode-- so we went there. We also went to H&M. We shopped as we walked around the streets of Milan. I bought a jacket (of course) a pair of shoes, some blouses and a few scarves. I was a little hard to find modest designer clothes, but we had fun trying.
We had heard that the people who live in Milan are really rude. We found that either they were really rude or really nice. We did see a motor cycle accident and people honking at the poor guy as he tried to get up. I guess he wasn't doing it fastest enough being injured and all. When we were trying to decide on what gelato we wanted, the girl behind the counter told us to hurry up because she wanted to go home and watch the soccer game. I also tried on some shoes and got in trouble because I tried on the wrong ones. I wasn't supposed to touch the ones on a certain shelf. All I can say about that is that there wasn't a sign and I really didn't like those shoes anyway. I did have 2 people put some souvenirs in my bad as a thank you for shopping at there stores.
Throughout the entire trip, Joe was so careful about mentioning how hungry he was. He didn't want to be annoying, being hungry all of the time. I could see the signs of hunger in both Joseph and Sarah, so we stopped at Burger King to ease our way back into American fast food.
We did have pasta and gelato later that evening as our last meal in Italy.
We tried to see as many things as we could during the few hours we were in Milan. We saw the outside of the Duomo, but we did not make it inside. Milan is a very busy place. I was glad we turned our rental car in as soon as we got into town.
We loved every minute that we spent in Italy... well, I could have skipped the driving, but everything else was wonderful. I hope that when I return I will be able to speak Italian better.
